Out On The Web: Slightly Viral

With a tagline, "Stories, you just can't miss", this blog has great stories you we enjoy reading about. I could spend hours looking through the posts on Slightly Viral.

I enjoyed reading the story of Martin Luther King, Jr, who is one of my life heroes. What a great man he was. He proves to be a greater man the more I learn about him.

They also have great videos, too like these:

Link to the story here.

I have a great and smart dog but I do not think she would do what the dog does is this story.

Go check out the great stories on Slightly Viral. You will be gad you did.

Getting The Car Worked On

A couple weeks ago a must have ran over something. I have been having to put air in the one tire every other day at least. I have been waiting to get my rent paid for February before getting the tire fix and getting an oil change. That all changed Saturday when one of the cylinders started to backfire.

After taking my mom to work this morning, I took the car to the garage. They did a tune up just a few months ago. They took my car and checked it over. The wires were fine and the spark plug was undamaged. It turned out the cylinder was not get enough gas. They did a fuel injector cleaning. I hope I will not have any more problems with the car for a long time.

My tags are due next month so that means I need to get the car inspected. I will get an oil change at that point. I try to keep up on the oil change and other maintenance on my car.

I am glad that I had the money in the bank to pay for the repairs today. I rather have used the money to do for the house or the trip to go get Jo Anne.

Busy And Slow

I know I have not been doing as good as I would like to be doing at posting on Mountain Highs and Valley Lows. I guess I am going to have to try to set a time to work on my posts. I enjoy working on post. I always seem to get my best ideas while I am at work and cannot write them down. When I get home I am too tired to work on a post. In the mornings, I have to get up early to take my mom to work and then I come back home to take some more sleep and talk a little bit with Jo Anne. I could give up the sleep I guess but I cannot the talking with Jo Anne.

It has been slow in sales in my eBay store. I have been working on getting more books listed. Last January, I was selling books left and right. This year, I have barely sold any books. I continue to get great feedback on what I do sell. I am sure sales will pick up in the coming weeks. I am thinking about want other things a could sell. My main focus will continue to be books.

Food Journey: Kefir

With is being the season for different sicknesses going around, I though I would share a home remedy. When I get heartburn, upset stomach or the runs I get some kefir to drink. Kefir is fermented milk drink similar to drinkable yogurt. If your grocery store carry it, you should find it in the Dairy Section.

I first heard of kefir several years ago when I worked for a company the did resets for a grocery store chain. I tried if to see how it tasted and I like it. I get in once in a while to enjoy and help keep my digestive system working good. One of my coworkers uses kefir instead of milk for his cereal. I have tried it and do not like it that way. I like to drink it straight from a glass. Here is a drink for your health.

I am not a doctor and you should talk with your doctor about kefir as part of your health plan.

It Is Freaking Cold Outside!

Oh my God, it is freaking cold outside! This morning it was -2 degrees Fahrenheit outside, that is around -18 Celsius for my friends outside the United States. It has been a few year since I seen the temperatures get this low around here. I do not think it got any slower then 10 degrees last winter. It may get up to 20 degrees today and start getting back to normal tomorrow.

Each year I hear about the extreme cold in the North and Midwest States, and I have to admirer the people there living through that weather. I could not imagine being without power in this cold. My house is even cold even with the heat running. While there is nothing like crawling under some warm blanket on a cold night after getting home from work. If I did not have to go to work and do some other thing,s I would stay in my warm bed.

I have been without water since Saturday. This is one of the reasons I am starting to look for a house of my own. I am tired of having to wait for someone to fix things. While at least I have heat and I can get shower over at my mom's house.

I hope everyone is doing good and if you are in the cold areas that you are warm. Before we know it Spring will be here.

Goals And Hopes For 2014

Will 2014 is off to a great start. With the being of the year as a always do is sit down and think of my goals and hopes for the year ahead.

Of course, Jo Anne's and my biggest hope for 2014 is to be together again. We keep our hopes up that the issue with Jo Anne's Visa will be resolved soon. It has been I had hard and long wait already. We both trust that God will work everything out for us.

As you guys know, who have been following Mountain Highs and Valley Lows, I started last month looking for a house of my own. I want a better home to bring Jo Anne to when she finally gets here. My mom will be moving in with us. Thursday, I put an offer on a 3 bedroom and 1 and half bath house with a full basement. All three of us love the house. There is three other offers on the house at this time. It is a short sales so we are waiting for the bank of the seller to approve the offer. Jo Anne and I have been praying to find a house that will be a great starter home for our life together. I have had such faith on getting a good house, I had been saying, "When we get this house I will ..."

I had a good year in 2013 with my online store. I sold 235 items in 2013. My main goal is to become a power seller on eBay. Of coarse, my other goal is to continue to provide great customer service to all my customers. I have set a goal of having a feedback score of 500 by the end of 2014. I am in the middle of doing the inventory of my books. I am counting the boxes of book I have I still need to list. I guess I have about eighty boxes. Once I finish doing the counter for my taxes, I will need to work hard on listing all the books. I am planning some changes to my online store too. I am working on an about me page to add to my store. I also plan to start donating a portion of my sells to charity. I have already been doing it but I just want to make it a little easier on myself to give the money to the charity. I have been reviewing eBay FAQs to see how to set it up and decide which organization to give the money too.

My goal for Mountain Highs and Valley Lows and my other blogs is to be more consistent in doing posts. I know with this goal, I will need to work on my time management. I have had some good ideas for posts for the Blogs but I often let other things take up my time. I need to stop telling myself, I will work on it later. Besides, I will have a lot in 2014 to post about.

Many of my plan come with the need of money. I have set a goal of saving money to take care of the trip to go get Jo Anne without getting into more debt. I also have a goal of building up my emergency fund to a month worth expenses.

I am looking forward to a great year ahead. I will share a lot of it hear with you my followers.
