Beginning is near.
Planning is over.
Building of excitement.
Itching to start.
Fearing the unknown.
Trusting in God.
Knowing the knowledge.

While Christmas Day is finally here! This is the day that Christians around the world celebrate the born of Jesus, the Savior of the World.
This Christmas season has been a hard time for Jo Anne and I. Both of us miss one another very much. We are making our plans for our first Christmas together next year. We have faith that God will work things out for Jo Anne's Visa to be approved soon.
A long with missing my Love, I have been thinking of my grandparents. My grandmother loved Christmas a lot. Both my grandmother and grandfather, even with the limited money they had always made Christmas special for me. I have not decorated where I live much since my grandparents passed away. I plan to decorate the house all out when Jo Anne gets here. I want to make Christmas special for her and our family every year.
This Christmas season has also been hard due to sickness. I have been sick a couple times since Thanksgiving. I am glad that I have not missed a day of work. I am happy that I feel a lot better now. The past couple days off from work and the rest I was able to get was so good. I feel healthy and rested now.
Even with these times where the world is falling apart, Christmas reminds we what my hope is in. My hope is not in the processions I have or the leaders of this world. I put my hope in the promises of God and he has never fail me. He has provided for all my needs and given me family and friends the love me and support me in the hard times of life.
This year has been hard for many people. There has been storms, acts of evil, sickness. Many of us have love ones that are many miles away or have left this life. Our hearts and minds cry out for them. We do not know the things that will come tomorrow. But, this Christmas I hope you will join me and put our worries aside and focus of the promises of God. Remember the true reason for Christmas is this is the Day we celebrate the day God sent his only begotten son to die for our sins so me can become holy in the eyes of God.
This is a music video of Patrick Ovenden. Patrick is one of Jo Anne's friends in the United Kingdom. He posted this video on You Tube and I like it and wanted to share it with you. I hope you like it too.
While I have a new supplier of books for my online store. On Sunday and today, I got around 60 boxes of books to sell. My new supplier seems to be more dependable then my first one which I am not sure what is going on with her business.
How I need to go through the boxes and start posting the books on eBay. I continue to get good feedback on the books I sell. I plan to keep that up. I try to describe and take pictures of the books so people know just what they are buying. I take great care in how I ship the books.
My sales seem to come in surges. I will go while week or so with very few sales and then I will have a couple days that I sell several books a day. I enjoy selling the books even with not making much money at this point. But I am starting to sell more and more of my higher priced books which are still offered at bargain.
I hope the sale continue to pickup because I started selling books online in-order to make a little money to help with the cost of getting Jo Anne here. Once Jo Anne is here and we can focus on other things, Jo Anne and I plan to use the money to help improve the lives of others.
I was able to buy the books due to getting some overtime at work. Unfortunately, I have been sick and not been able to list them online as fast as I would like too. I am feeling better now and hope to get working on the listings. I have four days off this weekend which I plan to work on posting more books online.
The day had arrived.
God's son went to earth.
The angels sung at his born.
The angels spread the news.
To the shepherds and the wish men.
When the shepherds and the wish men came,
The angles sung with joy.
The angels warned Joseph.
Of Herod's evil plan.
They protected the family on their way,
To Egypt to safety.
The angel sung with joy.
Jesus came to save us from our sins.
The angel sung with joy.

When you live by yourself you can get behind on the house work quickly. I have been so busy lately I have not been able to cleaning as I would have liked. Today, I started my fall cleaning and organizing my house. I have been wanting to better organize the living room to do things for my online store.
I am halfway done with the cleaning and organizing. I got the major moving around done so I can do a little more cleaning each day. I am hoping with the new setup in the living room it will be easier to do my regular cleaning. Part of the fall cleaning is putting up the plastic on the window which I hope to get done Sunday afternoon. I have done the plastic on the windows the past two winters and it cuts the drafts down a lot.
This year, I got some bubble wrap out of the recycle bin at work and stuff in in the hole above the heater that does not work. I just have been losing a lot of heat out on it because I have been running my heaters on lower setting on the cold nights. I am sure with both the hole and the windows done, I will be nice and warm when the really cold temperatures come.
The fall cleaning will take me several days to do the sweeping and the mopping of the floors. I have already cleaned out the refrigerator. I have the most the sweeping done in the kitchen and living room. Once done with them, I will do my bedroom and hallway. The last will be my storage room.
I hope I can keep going with the cleaning and organizing until I get it all finished. Living by yourself has its good side but having to do all the cleanig just sucks. I will feel better when I get done.
Thanksgivings Day is a day that we in the United States have set aside to give thanks to God for the blessings we have had. At the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrims gave thanks for surviving the harsh times they went through in the New World. President Abraham Lincoln set the day for Thanksgivings Day as the Fourth Thursday in the month of November.
I have a lot to be thankful for this year. Of course, the first thing I would like to gave thanks to God for is my Love, Jo Anne. She means to me more then I will ever be able to express to her. She brightens my days. Whenever I feel sad, I just need to think of her. I only wish she was beside me today instead of thousands of miles away. I am sure she will be here next year. Even with the distant between us, she as been there for me. I thank God, for blessing me with a great woman to be my future wife.
I am thankful for my family. Even though they drive me crazy at times, they have been a great support in my life. I am so glad to be spending this day with my family.
I thank God for my job and my online store. It means a lot when one can provide for ones family and self through ones own work. My job and store is just two way the Lord provides for me. It is because of my work, I can have and do the things I enjoy.
This one may seem to be a strange thing to be thankful for but I am thankful for the hard times in life. I hope I do not have too many ahead of me in life but they make the things in life that I enjoy more enjoyable.
I am thankful for my followers on my blogs. I enjoy readings your comments and your blogs too. Yes I do check and read the blogs of my followers. I have some posts, I am working on I hope you will enjoy. I have been focus lately on my online store but I will start working more on my posts for my blogs in the coming weeks.
I have many more things that I am thankful for on this Thanksgivings Day, but they are too many to share. The last thing I am thankful that I will share with you is last but not the least thing I am thankful for. I am thankful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus, who without him I would have not hope.
I hope all of your have a Happy Thanksgivings. May the year the come be full of blessings that your will be thankful for.
The last I heard there was people in forty states that have started petitions for their states to seceded from the union. I would be one of the first to tell you I do not agree with the craziness that is going on in Washington. Secession is not the way to go. I believe there is still time to stand up and do want is right and work together and make the changes that need to be done.
Instead of secession of the states, the states and local government needs to work of balancing their budgets and make sure they can provide the services they need to provide without the help of the federal government. If things do not change the federal government will not be about to provide the the services that them have promise and mandated. We need our state and local governments to be doing the right things so when hard times come, we can take care of the people who will need the help. Secession will only lead to war and war rarely leads to good things.
Instead of signing petitions for your state to secede, you should make sure you are getting prepared for the things that are coming. Their will be people who will need you to be prepared because they can not prepare for themselves or they believe the government will take care of them. It is not time to turn our backs on our fellow Americans and try to warn them of the hard times take are coming if we continue to travel down the course we are heading down and preparing to be able to care for ourselves and people in need when them come.
If the federal government will not listen to the people, then we need to start with ourselves and local government and work our way up. Things you can do is start your own business even if you have a job already. You do not know if you will have a job to go to when the the hard times come. I do not expect the men and women in Washington to do what needs to be done. They will do what sounds good and blame the someone else when their bright ideas do not not. You can run for office even if it is a local office. Get involve and help your local officials be prepared. The local governments are the closes to the people and know the needs of the people best.
Secession is not an option at this time. There are many other things to be done before it should be put on the table. Most of all we should be praying for our country and the people in the government that they will make the right choices.
My Fellow Americans,
Now with the election is over. Nothing has changed in Washington. No matter what happens in the next four years. President Obama will enjoy playing golf after he leaves office. Many in congress will still be in office, out on the gold course with President Obama, or both. What is know is that them will still be getting pay by the American Tax Payer.
Now both houses of congress need to work together and come up with a budget which they have not done in at least three years. Once we have a budget, we need to go through all government programs and see what is working and what is not working. We need to keep the programs work. They change the programs that are not working, so they work or just replace then with a program that works. Not just throw more money in the programs that do not money. The federal government does not have a income problem, it has a spending problem. Both parties are spending money we do not have to get get reelected not spending money to improve the lives of the American people. We need to make spending cuts and maybe raising some taxes. If we raise tax it should not be only one one group of one but shared by all the people.
We the people have a lot to do too. It is not just the responsibility of our elected officials to make it to where all people can share in the greatness the is the United States. We need to make sure that our representatives in government are doing their job. We need to take care of yourselves and and our fellow countrymen. We can not expect the government to do everything for us. The government can not solve all our problems. Some problems can only be solved by us working them out ourselves. I encourage you to start your own business, help a neighbor or family member in need and look for ways to improve your life and the lives of the people around you.
We do have hard times ahead of us and hard choices to make. We can see brighter days by all of us working together from the president all the way down to the poorest of the poor. Now lets work out our differences and focus on the thing we have in common, we are all Americans.
While Election Day is finally here. I just got back from doing my duty is an American. I hope everyone who has not voted gets out today and votes. I pray that who ever win does what is best for the country that I love.
It was good to see the poling place where I vote busy. Since I have to work tonight, it will be late tonight before I get to see all the results of the elections. I am sure I will here about the Presidential race. I am also interested in who wins the governor's race here in North Carolina and the United States House of Representatives. I may go out to my car on the dinner break to listen to the radio for the results.
On my way to vote, I pickup one of my friends so he could vote today. Things went smoothly with the check-in and voting. For the next election, I need to do a better job at researching the judges running. I knew a lot of the names and have met a few. I voted for the ones I thought would do the best job.
I hope with the election over tomorrow that we can start focusing on the problems that need to fix. We need to sit down and discuss the problems and come up with solutions the work and help the people. Not come up with way to keep one person or party in power over the other.
Sunday night it sounded like a war was going on outside my house with the wind from Hurricane Sandy. Monday morning, there was not a inch of ground around where I live that was not covered by leaves, pine needles, or branches. The wind picked up on Saturday and blow and blow all day Sunday and Monday. Today the wind has claimed down a little. I did not lose power but many of my coworkers who live in Hendersonville did.
I live just south of what I call the the snow line and where I is right on the snow line. No snow here. I called the area of South Asheville, North Carolina the snow line because, I have seen many time where Asheville will get dumped on with snow and Hendersonville which and about 20 mile to the South get nothing. A few time Hendersonville has gotten snow and Asheville go nothing. I believe it is where Hendersonville is located in the mountains. North of Asheville has gotten several inches of snow. The closer you are to the Tennessee / North Carolina line the more snow you have. I have heard of some deaths cause from the storm in North Carolina.
I hear the news of how the storm in affecting New Jersey, New York and surrounding states, it sounds like they never had a storm like this before. New York City is closed down basically. I have faith at the people in all areas affected by the storm will pull together and help one another recover from the storm. There are people in Western North Carolina heading to the areas that where affected worse by the storm to help. I know those who pull together and help one another and not wait for others to come will be the first to recover.
Where I work is has an emergency response plan at is suppose help help get supplies in areas that are natural disasters. I am sure once the storm is out and the rebuilding starts I will be busy at work preparing orders that will be going to help rebuild the affected areas.
Jo Anne and I are praying for all people affected by Sandy. We hope all our followers are safe.
I have been doing a lot of cleaning and organizing of my house and buying things for my online store. There seems to be a lot of things to do around the house. The things I got for the store are already paying off in time and money.
I have collected a lot of stuff over the year and I have started to go through the stuff and getting rid of the junk and stuff I do not want any more. I am not completely surprised at all the stuff that just takes up space in the house. Some of the stuff is going in the trash or the recycling center. A few things will end up on eBay.
I brought a book about selling on eBay a couple weeks ago and fellow a couple things in it has already paid off. I also have brought a printer and a postage scale. Both the printer and scale have already paid off by saving me money on postage on the books I sell and of course the time it takes me to go to the post office. I go the printer which is almost new for twenty dollars at a local thrift store. One of the clerks at the post office told me about a man that buy a new printer when the toner starts getting low and takes the old one to the thrift store. The postage scale was a buy on eBay. It was a big rush to bin and finally win the auction for the scale.
I hope once I get done organizing my house, I will be better setup for my online store. Besides, I will have more room in the house to move around.
With the election only three weeks away here is a question you may wonder about, What if the Presidential Election is a tie? I found this video that explains want happens if there is a tie in the Presidential Election.
Our founding fathers put a lot of thought in writing the Constitution of the United States. It may not be perfect but overall I believe it is the best way to deal with the problem if there is a tie.
I had a couple things to and had some vacation days to use up. I took Monday off in order to get a very much needed haircut and get my car inspected so I can renew my tag. I am happy to say I got both done today.
My haircut was easier to get then getting my car inspected. I wanted to get my car inspected at the place I get my tires. I figured they could use the business. When I got over there I saw they where closed. It is not surprising with the economy and that the road access change. The road work and the reroute of the roads in the area out down on their business. I hope all the great guys their have found jobs elsewhere. Now, I need to look for a new place to buy tires for my car. I hope that will not be for a while.
After getting that done, I was planning on working on things for my online store and other online projects. While, my sister called and a hose in her car busted. The good thing is that is busted after she got to work and was sitting in the parking lot. I had to go pick her up and help her fix the car. I am glad it was the upper hose and real easy to change out. It was easier that fixing the hose on my car. The best part about it is that she has a job. I hope she keeps it.
Now, to wait for my next day off. I will be able to have a day to do nothing but relax one day.
Sunday afternoon, I met up with my friend Joey. Joey wanted to spend some time with me since he got got his first pay check from his new job. We have not hung out in a while since he has not had much luck with job lately. This job seems to be working out for him for now. Though he is thinking of getting out of retail and trying hotel work.
I met him at where he works. While waiting for him to get off of work, I brought two angels for my mom. I waited outside after I brought the angels. I started to wish I put some pants on instead of the shorts that I wore. It seems to be getting cooler sooner then normal this year.
When Joey got off from work, we got in his car and headed up to Asheville, North Carolina. We eat a late lunch at Ci Ci's Pizza on Tunnel Road. We were glad it was still open with the ones in Hendersonville and the one of Hendersonville Road have gone out of business. While the pizza had always tasted better at the one on Tunnel Road. After we eat we headed out to the different stores nearby. Joey and and I enjoyed looking around in the different stores. I brought a book from the book store about selling on eBay. I hope to improve my store, Dan the Mountain Man's Emporium, on eBay. I hate that book stores are taking the sitting out of the stores. I have brought books that I was not planning on buying just because I sat down and started reading it and like it.
I saw this and I had to take a picture and share it on Mountain Highs and Valley Lows. Hey, I found it interesting.
This past week was a busy and a mix of things. I like want one of the ladies from my church said to me. "Being bored is a good thing, I can't wait to get back to bored."
Jo Anne has been sick the past two weeks and stayed in the hospital for a couple days this week. She is at home resting. The hard thing for my was being so far a way end not being to take care of her. Getting a washcloth to put on her head, something to drink, and just being there.
The lawyer is making the final preparations for the paperwork we need to file for Jo Anne's Visa. Jo Anne and I are hoping to get the approval soon. We miss one another more and more each day we have to wait. We will like to thank all the people who helped with the paperwork. We will have the paperwork filed this coming week.
My nieces Jessica and Vanessa were in town this week to visit my sister. It was go to see them. I wish I had more then the 30 minutes I got to see them with everything going on. Maybe next time, I will be able to spend a whole day with them. I am glad they are doing good.
My landlord has been working on the water system where I live. I would have water one minute and no water third minutes later. They just fixed a leak this morning, under one of the other homes. In the end, I should had better water pressure. When I paid my rent he also told me, he is works on getting a tractor to fix the roads. He will have some gravel put where I park my car. That will be go when it happens, the roads have big ruts and my parking area becomes a mud-hole when it rains.
I had a slow start to selling books in October. I set a sales goal of 40 books for this month, which is 8 more then the 32 books I sold in September. I have been having problems with the program I use to list my books on eBay. I also notice that some of the pictures on my listings disappeared. I plan on going through my listings and fix any problems I find. It is the pictures on the ones already listed. I try to describe each book to great detail.
Work was okay this week, but it went really slow. Supposedly, we had work but is was just taking time to work through the system and the warehouse. The quarterly meeting is next week, so that means I should get my perfect attendance bonus with next week's paycheck. I hope the report at the meeting is good news. A good sign is they replace temps whenever they let someone go and they have hired a few of the temps as regular employees. I am not afraid of losing my job but I am tired of the wait and see pattern everyone has been in for the last couple of years.
I will have lunch with one of my friends tomorrow when he gets off from work. We will make plans to take a day trip sometime this month. I am looking forward to the trip. It will be nice to get out of town and have a little break from things.
As you see I have been doing a lot of things lately and it looks like it will continue for a little while longer.
I have been trying to replace the oxygen sensor on my car for the past couple weekends but due to weather and other things I need to do on my days off. I choose today because it was suppose to be a nice sunny day. It has been raining the past couple days here. We got over 3 inches on rain in 24 hours, Tuesday, which is a lot of rain for Henderson County. I was glad to see the sun break through the clouds today.
After I mailed off some books I sold on eBay, I stopped at the auto parts store and brought the oxygen sensor for my car. I headed to mom's house so I could jack the car up and work on the car without getting wet. I could not do it at my house because I have to lay down in a mud puddle to work on my car. Fixing that mud puddle is a project to work on later. I got the car jacked up and started looking for the sensor were everyone I talked to and the websites on the internet say it was. I looked under the car and could not location it. After a while of looking and not finding it, I got one of my mom's neighbors to help locate it. After a few minutes we found the sensor on the top side in behind the motor.
Once I found knew where the sensor was and then got the socket I needed since none of my wrenches fit the sensor, I replaced the sensor pretty quickly. I am glad that I did not have to remove half the car to get to it. Normally when I decide to do work on my car myself I spend 30 minutes getting to the part and less then a minute to replace the part.
While at the post office shipping the books out, I checked my mail and got a package from TripAdvisor. A couple weeks ago, I did a survey on TripAdvisor were I do reviews of restaurants and other places I visit in my travels. I received a luggage tag and a couple stickers to put on my car. I will use the luggage tag when I go to see Jo Anne once her Visa is approved. I will put one of the stickers on my car and save one to use on something later. My nephew got to one that I gave my sister, he tried to put it on his shirt. What a waste but kids will be kids.
I took this Thursday off from work to spend the day with my mom. It was mom's birthday and I wanted to do something special for her. After having breakfast with my oldest sister, Mary, and my niece, Julie, we headed up to Asheville, North Carolina. Mom and I, enjoyed our day looking around the shops in Asheville.
We stopped in Biltmore Village first and walked around. Biltmore Village is at the entrance of George Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate. We enjoyed the shops there especially The Olde World Christmas Shoppe.
I went into All Souls Episcopal Cathedral. It is a very beautiful church that I plan on going back too.
Mom and I left Biltmore Village and looked around and shopped at other antique store, thrift shops and other store around Asheville. When it came time for dinner we stopped at Asiana in Skyland, North Carolina which is one of the best Asian buffets in Western North Carolina.
After dinner, we finished our trip to Asheville at my favorite place in Asheville, Biltmore Park.
Mom enjoyed her birthday and her tour around Asheville and so did I. We only wish my Love, Jo Anne was with us.
I first sponsored a child through Compassion International when I was in high school. I am currently sponsoring a boy in the Philippines. I just started sponsoring him in the past year after my last sponsored child left the program after his family life improved to where they did for need the help from Compassion. My new sponsor child is already showing improvement in his life. I look forward to the day he graduates from the Compassion Program and starts his life of hope and promise that he would not have without the hope Compassion gives him. In the last letter I received from him, he shared he has trouble reading. I sent him a letter of encouragement to continue working on his reading and shared about how I had trouble with reading while in school and now I love reading.
I would like to share this video of testimonies from some of the children that have gone through the Compassion Program.
I hope you will take the time to change the life of a child and sponsor a child through Compassion. The can do this by visiting Compassion's website or by click the Compassion widget on the side bar of this blog.
Today, I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Rachel and David. I have know Rachel since she was a little girl. I was happy to be part of the begin of this new stage of her life. I do not know David but the few times I have met him, he seems to be a great guy. Knowing Rachel, God we be the center of their marriage. I can not wait for the day I get to make my Love, Jo Anne my wife.
Exchanging their vows.
It not one of the reasons I joined the credit union but it is something I love about doing my banking at a credit union. That is Member Appreciation Day, which I believe they have once a quarter. Sure, I have seen banks have coffee in the lobby for there customers in the morning but I have not seen a bank have hot dogs with chips, cookies and drinks for their customers once in a while.
Since I joined the credit union and seen the great service I get there, I can not imagine going back to a bank to do my banking.
I went out to pickup my friend Seth, who needed a ride into town. While I was out his way, I drove by a house that burned yesterday that I heard about on a local television stations web site. I was not sure what house it was until I drove out there today. I was sad to see it was I house I drove by everyday when I was growing up. No one was hurt or lost their place to live since no one lived in the house for some twenty years. I believe they used the house for storage.
Yesterday was my first day off from work. I took a little time off to get some rest and hopefully get some house work and blog stuff done. I am looking forward to laying in bed and doing very little. Over the last couple months, I feel like I have been constantly on the go with little down time for me to take some rest. So far, Rayna, my dog seems to be enjoying having me around more. Last night, after my sister and her kids left my mom's house, Rayna got on the couch with me and slept until I can home. Since we got home she has been laying on her bed which is right next to my bed. We have only got up to take my mom to work this morning.
Saturday, I am thinking of take a little trip down to Greenville, South Carolina. I have fully decided if I will go or not yet. I am thinking of taking a road trip later this year like I did last year with my US Highway 64 trip last year. This year, I am thinking of picking a town to travel to and explore. I just hope the gas prices do not go up higher. Of course, when I do the trip I will post a trip report here on Mountain Highs and Vally Lows.
This afternoon, I had my lunch at Chick-fil-a in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I waited in line about a hour before I got my food. The line for the counter inside was going out the door. I went just before 3 PM. People were patient in waiting in line. Everyone was respectful of everyone one else. People stepped aside to let people through to get out of the restaurant or in to the restroom and people in line helped the staff of Chick-fil-a by calling out the names of people who's order was ready.
I am thinking about going to Chick-fil-a later in the evening to get dessert after having dinner at my mother's house. This is my way of supporting free speech. Well worth the hour wait!
I stopped at Chick-fil-a this morning to get my breakfast. I was happy to see the line for the drive-thru was around the building and the line for the counter inside was almost out both doors. Yes I plan to go back for lunch and dinner.
When it comes to shopping or eating out, I do not make a political check to see if I am out to shop there. I am about customer service. If you have want and have good customer service, I will shop at your store. Chick-fil-a gives excellent customer service to all their customers. I wish more businesses gave their customer the service that Chick-fil-a does. Chick-fil-a, it is my pleasure to support you on this Chick-fil-a Appreciation Day.
People who do not go to Chick-fil-a to eat are the ones missing out. Not only is their food the best for a fast food/ quick causal restaurants, but each and every customer is treated as a honored guest. Besides, they keep their stores staffed to take care of their customers unlike other restaurants. That means more jobs and they do a great job at training their employees in customer service. Their are not many places today where you hear, "Can I get you a refill?", "Can I take care of the tray for you?", and "It is my pleasure?".
I am supporting Chick-fil-a today because they treat all customer and employees with honor and respect no matter their race, creed, sexual orientation, or political beliefs. I encourage you to put differences aside and go to Chick-fil-a and enjoy good food and customer service. Remember, it is the respect that we show to people who are different from us or hold different beliefs that make us a better people.
Velma is my brother, Steven's girlfriend and they have been dating for over six years. They met at the group home where they live. Over the years, Velma has become part of our family. Velma's parents have already passed away and her remaining family do not get many chances to visit her since they live far away. This year, we decided to have a party for Velma for her birthday. We had hamburgers and hot dogs with some of the normal side that go with them.
Mom got Velma a ice cream cake for her birthday. Velma was happy to show us the birthday cards she got from her family and friends. It is good to see Velma having a good time and excited about about the party that the group home is going to have for her on her birthday later this week.
As I said before, I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. I have not cooking squash recipe before so when who's blog I follow posted a squash casserole recipe I had to try it. The best thing this recipe was really easy to make. I had had some barbecue chicken with the squash casserole. For the barbecue chicken all you need to do is get your favorite barbecue sauce and brash it on the chicken and bake until chicken is done. Here is Janet's recipe:
DOWN HOME SQUASH CASSEROLE
2-4 yellow squash
1/2 onion, diced
can of cream of chicken soup
3/4 cup sour cream
salt and pepper to taste
Peel and cube squash. Cook squash and onion till tender. Drain water. Put squash and onion in casserole dish and add cream of chicken soup and sour cream and stir together.Mix together:
1/2 cup self rising flour
1/2 cup corn meal mix
2T melted butter
milk and water
(in other words make a small batch of cornbread)
Mix together the cornbread ingredients and pour on top of squash mixture. Cook uncovered in 350 degree oven about 30-35 minutes. Put on broil and brown cornbread on top if you wish.~ recipe comes from Writing in the Blackberry Patch.
I used the big 26 ounce can of cream of chicken soup with the squash mix. I love how it turned out but I think the next time I will use a little smaller can. The cornbread crust turn out great. The broil at the end of baking makes the difference in the look of the crust.
I really enjoyed the casserole and plan to look for and try other squash recipes. I may even try try different things with the casserole.

I am sorry for the lack of post over the last two weeks. I have been wanting to work on a few ideas for post but been busy with family and I have started selling books again.
As you know, if you follow Mountain Highs and Valley Lows, my mother had car accident a couple weeks ago. I have been getting up earlier in the morning to take her to work. I have had to work in naps so I would have enough sleep for work.
This past weekend my brother, Tim, and I went down to help my aunt and uncle to move in my one of my cousins. They have been renting to own the place they are moving out of and the people selling have been doing some shady things. I have been helping them find a lawyer to help them. Everyone thinks my aunt and uncle have a good case. I hope they can can the help they need. I think moving out will help they in many ways.
I reopened my eBay Store at the end of June. I sold my first three books this weekend. I sold another last night. It is good to be selling books again. You can use the link on the side bar to go to my online store. When I start make a profit on the books, I will use the money to help with the cost of Jo Anne's Visa. Once Jo Anne is here, we will use the money to start a physical store.
Lately, I have been feeling a little down. I kind of feel like I have been walking through one of the valleys of life the past several weeks. First with my car and my cell phone. Now the overtime at work seems to have disappeared. The long wait for word on Jo Anne's Visa is wearing in me. I guess the biggest thing affecting me is having to get up early to take mom to work in the morning which lessen my sleep.
The thing that keeps me going is seeing all the ways, God is providing for me and Jo Anne. I managed to come for with the money to pay for the repairs to the car without getting a loan. A friend gave me a phone that works and fills my needs. The phone that Verizon sent me showed up this past weekend. My landlord have it sitting on his desk for the last three weeks. Even with the overtime seemingly gone, I am not worried about losing my job. They have hired a lot of temps in the past few weeks. As for Jo Anne's Visa, we knew it would take a little longer due to some circumstances that I will not talk about here. If I have enough money to go visit Jo Anne this summer I would but, then I would not have the money to the trip when Jo Anne's Visa comes through. Besides, I do not want you put Jo Anne through the pain of saying good-bye to me again and begin apart again. With my mother, I am glad that she is still alive. Looking at the car, I cannot believe she only got bruises.
I do my best to keep focused on the blessing from God. It is hard somethings with some many people looking at things in a negative way. I guess I need a vacation. I thinking of taking a couple days off at the end of July or August.
