Review of 2009

With 2009 coming to an end, it is time to look back on the year. This has been a year of great happiness and hardship for me. I for the most part am happy to see it come to an end with the hopes that 2010 will be a lot better.

Even with the hardships of this year, I can point to many blessings that happen in 2009. The biggest one is my trip to the Philippines where I spent seventeen days with my fiancée. I proposed to Jo Anne while we were in Baguio during the Panagbenga Festival.

I enjoyed my trip to the Philippines and hope I can return soon. Unfortunately, when I got back from the Philippines I found out I had no job to go back too. After three months of being unemployed I got a job that if I knew how the company runs thing I would not have applied for the job. I was making less at that job then I was on unemployment. Was made promises that was not kept. Then getting fired because someone messed up. Now I am back on unemployment now looking for work. But, I am sure that I will find a better job soon.

I also went back to school this fall. I learned a lot. I did not do to good with my grades with working full time and school full time. I also got sic, too.

I was sadden this year to lose my favorite music artist, Michael Jackson. May he rest in peace. I pray for his family.

I managed to get my car paid off this year. No more car payments and closer to being debt-free. I hope the car last me at least another two years.

I am hoping that 2010 goes a lot better then 2009 did for me. I have a good base to start the year with.

2009 Will End Soon!

Year 2009 will end soon; I thank the Lord for this wonderful year. A year full of joy and happiness, though at times there is sadness and trials in life. This year will not be a meaningful one without the Lord, for He is the reason of our true joy and happiness. Trials serve as a wake up call to remind us how great and faithful is our God. It’s hard to admit, but sometimes people only remember God during trials and sufferings.

In my personal life, this year is full of blessings and I consider trials as a blessing too. God has blessed me with a loving family who always there to support and love me all the time, a friend who stand by me thru thick and thin and a loving fiancĂ© who love me and accept me for who I am. I thank the Lord that He allowed Daniel and I to spent time together early this year and for His provisions in all our needs. We are thankful for the wonderful gift of love that God has poured upon us, it is difficult to be apart from each other but we know in God’s perfect time we will be together again and that time it will be forever.

Year 2009 will close in few more days, I pray that more people will turn their back into the sinful life and draw more closer to the Lord. For those who have lost their love ones because of the flood brought by typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng, and the landslide happened in Baguio and Benguet, for those who have lost their houses and other properties, this is the time to reflect and spend sometime with the Lord. Things happened for a reason and God has a purpose in everything that is going on with our lives. God is waiting for us and He is longing for our love.

As we welcome the year 2010, let us pray and wish for a world peace and hope that no more tragedy will come. To God be the glory now and forever!

Photo Of The Week: Tree Across The Road

This tree was blocking my travel home Christmas Day. I use a different route to get to my house and back to my mother's house for Christmas dinner. We had a small ice storm with some winds Christmas Eve.

Happy Birthday, Jesus

Happy birthday, Jesus!
You are the true meaning of this season and the best gift we ever had.
Thank you for your love and for saving us from our sins.
This Christmas, we want to give the best for You and that is our life.

No matter how tough life may bring us, we should celebrate Christmas full of joy, love, hope and happiness because this is the day that Our Savior Jesus Christ is born.

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

The Snow Report

Okay, here is my promised snow storm report. I was surprised by the amount of snow we got here Friday. We received eight to twelve inches of snow compared to the one to three inches we normally get with a snow storm. This is the most snow we have received in the area since the Blizzard of 1993. We got over two feet with that storm.

I decide Friday morning to head to mom's house to ride out the snow storm. I figured that I would have a better chance of getting somewhere if I needed too at mom's house since she lives closer to town. Plus mom needed to work this weekend and she does not like driving in the snow. I do not mind driving in bad weather. I only worry about the other people on the road with me during the bad weather. I know want I doing and do not know want they are going to do.

Mom had to work Saturday. After she called to see if they were open I managed to get her car out and mom to work. Unfortunately, I was not able to get her car back up to her driveway. I ended up parking her car in the parking lot of a store about a mile away from her house. I walked about halfway back to my mother's house before someone gave me a ride the rest of the way. I hope to get mom's car back to her house this afternoon.

Saturday afternoon, when I had to pickup I managed to get my car out. It took me a couple tries but I was able to get my car back to mom's house. I car weight a lot more then my mother's car.

I would like to thank the men and women with the Department of Transportation for getting the roads cleared. They had a hard time clearing the roads due to the amount of snow, the number of accidents, and the numerous abandoned cars. Many people were stuck on Interstate 26 in Asheville for over nine hours when a truck jack knifed. Many abandon their car for near by hotels and emergency shelters. The abandoned car made it harder to clear the roads. The National Guard, Police and Firefighters help people move their car. People who did not return to move their cars had them towed by the state troopers. All of our emergency workers have done a great job.

I have been amazed at the number of people out on the roads Sunday and Monday. Tier where a ton of people at Wal-mart in town but things for the snow and finishing their Christmas shopping. Everyone seemed to be claim in the store. I can not say much about the bad driving habits some people have even in bad weather. Slow down and be careful please!

Let It Snow!

It is snow here! This is the first real snow storm of this year. Okay, it is the first real snow storm in a long time. Al Gore must be in the area. Ha! Ha! Ha! I always have a wait and see when it comes to snow here. I have seen when we would not get anything here in Henderson County and up around Asheville would get at least a inch or two of snow. When we get snow the moisture comes up from the Gulf of Mexico with the cold air from Canada like this storm. Henderson County is on the line so there will be a mix of snow, sleet, and rain during this storm.

This afternoon, I will try to head up to my mother's house closer to town. The road should be clear enough to get around by the afternoon. The Transportation Department does a great job of keeping the roads free from ice and snow here. I may spend the night with my mom depend on the conditions. I most want to see how thing look closer to town. Besides, I have more supplies at mom's house for the snow storm. They are calling for the snow to continue through the night tonight. I doubt we will get much more then we get more then what it on the ground now.

White Elephant Christmas Party

Tonight, I went to my Sunday School Class's Christmas Party. I enjoyed myself a great deal. We had a White Elephant Gift Exchange.

Rules for a White Elephant Gift Exchange

1. Bring a joke gift under ten dollars.
2. Wrap it or put in bag.
3. Pick a number in the hat. Take your turn by the number you picked.
4. On your turn you can pick a gift from the pile of gift or steal a gift from someone else.
5. A gift can only be steal three times.
6. At the end, the person who goes first can choose to keep their gift or steal a gift.

I have a idea for a gift this year but did not have time to go where I seem the gift before the party. While I was Christmas shopping with my mother Wednesday night I found some mold-able foam shop at Wal~mart. When I was that, I said to myself someone would have fun with that. Kelly picked my gift which is good since she has a little girl. Tray, her husband, told me that they will tell me how mold-able the soap is. I hope a remember to ask because I really want to know if it really is mold-able foam soap.

School Is Out For Christmas

Yesterday, I had my final exam for math class. That finishes up my school work for this semester. I still not sure I I will go back next semester yet. I really need focus on getting a job or so form of income so I can get things moving forward with Jo Anne's Visa. Besides, I believe I only passed my math class. I did not do as good as good on the final exam for my math class as I would have like to done. Right in the middle of the exam my brain just blinked out. I have been fling through all the test in the school except the final. I am sure I still passed the exam.

I do have one thing I look forward to during Final Exam Week at school and that is the textbook buy back at the book store. I got $147 this semester for selling my textbooks back. They did not buy my management book back. While a $147 is good for three book. I used half to pay a bill and the rest I put in my savings. When selling your books back to the book store you can figure on getting about twenty percent of what the books cost. We all could use a little extra money right now.

While, I will spend my Christmas break looking for work and debating if I will return to school next semester. I have some much going on right now. I to busy to really dedicate the time needed for school. If I do go back next semester I need to change my schedule around anyway. I am even thinking of changing my major. I have a couple of weeks to decide.

Package Finally Delivered

Jo Anne's Christmas gift was finally delivered. We had a problem with the payment of the customs fee. I called Fed Ex and sent an online message and made arrangements for them to charge the fee to my Fed Ex account. I do not ship the package on my account which I guess would have made things easier. Both Jo Anne and I, talked with the people at Fed Ex and got the fee taking care of. I am very happy with the service that I have received from Fed Ex. Their customer service representatives were very friendly and quick to help. No Fed Ex did not pay me for this post. This is my personal opinion on my experience with Fed Ex.

Shipping a package internationally is new to me. This was only my second package sending to another country. I recommend using Fed Ex or UPS when shipping to other countries. Many countries do not have a reliable postal service as we do in the United States.

No More Car Payments

Yesterday, I reached one of my goals for becoming debt free. I paid off the loan on my car. Boy, the car drives so much better now that I do not own any money on it. Unfortunately, since I do not have a job at this time, I am not able to do the celebration that I was planning to do. Now the only debt I have is my students loans, which I should be able to knock out quickly after Jo Anne and I get everything settle with getting her here and married. Having no car payment will make it easier to save up the money that we need for the Visa process and getting started with our lives together.

I am looking up both a job and a new place to live. I have until the end of January to find a new place. The hard part will be finding a place to rent that I can keep my dog, Rayna. Speaking of Rayna, I am going to have to setup a run for her at the house since she been trying to get after my landlord's cat. I mostly let Rayna run free since she stays around the house most of the time. Putting she on the run while we are still at this place I hope will make it easier for her to adjust to not being as free to run as she is used to. I hope to let her inside the house when I am home at the next place we live. She does behave very will in a house when I bring her along with me to mom's house. She is not aloud in the house that I am renting at this time. I hope she will adjust to being in the house or on a run at our new place to live.

The package that I sent Jo Anne and her family, is waiting for Customs clearance right now. I hope she gets it later on today. I wish that I could have delivered the gifts myself instead of having to ship them. I am glad that God blessed me with the money to be able to send them something. I believe that better times are ahead when we can spend Christmas together.

On Its Way

While I dropped the package for Jo Anne's Christmas gift off at the Fed Ex drop off yesterday. I was looking over the paperwork and saw that it had the wrong address. I ran up to the package store in town. Thank God that the guy at the package did not send it with Fed Ex yet since he did for get the custom forms fill out yet. He changed the address. He said that was a first time someone has been happy that the package had not been shipped yet.

Now that the address is right, we can enjoy tracking the package as it makes it way to Jo Anne in the Philippines. I like the tracking feature that Fed Ex has. I have used it for things I ordered online. I looking forward to seeing how it makes it way to my Love!

Looking For Work And Place To Live

I am finishing fighting off the last of whatever sickness I have had. It seemed that I had different symptoms everyday. I had days that I did not feel like doing anything. But I still get up and do what I had to do.

I am once again looking for a full time job. I am planning to start looking for job closer to Asheville. I would like a job in retail since I enjoy retail work. I will take any job that I can get at this time. There are a lot of new hotels opening in Asheville so I may have a better chance of getting a job at one of the hotels. Once I get a job I can start working on the process for Jo Anne's Visa.

I have to the end of January of 2010 to find another place to live. Of course, I will need a job first. The place I live now is in some need of remodeling. It is safe to live in but does need a little work. My landlord has been great with working with me over the couple years. I am glad for all the help he and his family has been over the years. I do have one place that I could rent as soon as I get a job. I hope it is still available when I find a job.

God continue to provide for my needs. I just amazed at some of the things he does for me.
