Endless Cleaning Of The Water System

Today, I headed up the hill again to clean the spring out. The house I live is no a spring feed system. We have had a lot of heavy rains here in Western North Carolina this summer. The heavy rain wash silt into the spring head. I have had to make several trips up the hill and clean around the opening of intake pipe because the silt clogs the pipes up. Once the water comes into the intake pipes it goes into the reservoir. A lot of silt collects in the bottom of the reservoir which we and my roommate clean out about every six months. Today, I just cleaned out the intake pipe. After the reservoir, the water goes into another pipe that runs down the hill to the house. Along the pipe that runs down the pipe we have place where we can pull the pipe apart to help clean out blockages in the line.

Pipe at takes the water to the house.

As I was cleaning out the water system today I got thinking about that we need to do maintenance on our spiritual life. How often do do you do the maintenance on your relationship with God? It is important to spend time in prayer and reading the Bible. Prayer is the way we communicate with God. God gave us the Bible so we can know him and know how to live. The Bible is not a bunch of do not do this or this. Instead the Bible is our guide to living a rewarding life. To have the rewarding life with need to take to time to do maintenance on our spiritual life. We as Christian are like a water system for the living water. The water will not flow or people will not want to drink it if we do not do the right maintenance.
Jesus said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." ~ John 4:13-14 (ESV)

As a Christian, are you doing the maintenance you need to do to let the living water flow through you? Do people want the water of eternal life that is welling up in you?
