Third Day of Christmas: Gift Giving

I enjoy giving gifts to people and not just at Christmas. We give gifts at Christmas in remembrance of the gifts that the wish men gave to Jesus and the gift that God gave to us.

And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. ~ Matthew 2:11 (ESV)

Let us take a look at the gifts that the wish men gave to Jesus. Gold is a gift that you give to kings. Frankincense is a spice used with meat that is sacrificed as an offering to God. Myrrh was used during the embalming process and for other things dealing with a funerals. As you see these gifts had meaning behind them. So let the gifts that you give this Christmas and every Christmas have meaning. Give gifts in remembrance of God's gift to the world and to show your love for someone.
