Game Time: Add 'em Up

I like to play games online. I normally play games with my girlfriend or by myself. Last night I discovered a new game that I just love to play. The goal of the game is to eliminate the tiles on the board by having the tile surrounding adding up to the tile you are placing and a number end with that number(i.e.: 3= 3, 13, 23). You can play it online or download it on to your computer. It is called Add 'em Up by Blue Bug Games. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Burger King Moth

I had to take my mother to work this morning. We stopped at Burger King for breakfast. While there the manager told me to go look at a moth that was on the wall outside. I took these pictures of the moth with my cell phone.

Life is a Gift: God's Protecting Hands

My life is full of examples of God protecting me. My life has not been a easy one. I was born the middle child of seven children of my parents. My father was an alcoholic and very abusive. My mother was almost killed by my father twice while she was carrying me in her womb. As a small child my father locked me in my bedroom and the bed caught on fire. I escaped the room by climbing out onto the roof. An neighbor saw me playing with my toys on the roof.

I spent most of my time at my grandparents house who took custody of me when I was four years old. I was referred to as my grandparents' son since their only children were my mother and aunt. My grandparents raised me up in a Christian home. When I was eight years old I started attending a baptist church near my home after the pastor paid a visit to the house and invited us to the church. In August of 1986, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. In time the pastor left and I stopped going to the church. As I got into my teenage years I started making same bad choices. I did not get into drugs or alcohol thanks to God protection. I was loving for love and looking in some of the wrong places. Forming the wrong kind of friendships with people. People started telling lies about me, but if the true came out it would make the lies look like the truth. In 1993, one of the boy in my neighborhood invited me to come to church with him. He made sure that I had a ride to church each time the church was open. I was involved in the youth group at church. I started to grow in the Lord again.

I continued to make bad choices in my life. I finally got into major trouble which God used to get me the counseling I needed in order to start the right choice with friendships. God is still working on making me into the man he want me to be. I getting life in order and developing friendships that build me up instead of tearing me down. God is now using me to change peoples lives all over the world.

In January of this year, God brought a very special women into my life. We started talking in a Christian Chat Room that I started chatting in to developed my social skills and make good Christian friends. My Love and me started as friends with me not looking for a relationship. I finally got to the point at I decide to give up on looking for someone to spend my life with. Shortly after this God started speaking to my heart that my Love was the one for me. After much time of praying then talking with her we become boyfriend and girlfriend. We committed our relationship to the Lord and pray together everyday. God is answering our prayers day by day.

When I was younger many people would come up to me and tell me that God have something special planned for me to do. I believe that he is moving me in the final position for that plan. I pray everyday for God to use me to touch someone for his glory.

Sugarmama's Flowers at Church

We at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, NC are very blessed to have a lady at we call Sugarmama. Sugarmama works with the youth and also cleans there church buildings. One thing Sugarmama does that I enjoy very much and it is a blessing to all who see it is her flowers in the courtyard of the church. She uses her own money for the flowers and works to take care of them. I hope the flower are a blessing to you as much as they are to me. I asked Sugarmama some questions about her flowers and here are her answers.

When did you start putting flowers in the courtyard at First Baptist Church?

About two years ago.

Why do you plant the flowers in the courtyard at First Baptist Church?

I enjoy flowers and the love the beautiful of them.

What do you do to take care of the flower?

Of course water them, and also prune them.

Does anyone help you with the flowers?

What flowers do you plant in the courtyard?

All kinds, a lot of color!

Do you have flowers other places around the church?

if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister. ~ Colossians 1:23 ESV

Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution

First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, NC is blessed to have a very nice library. I checked out a series of videos titled Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution by Exploration Films. There are three videos in the series. The videos features Dr. Jobe Martin who was a transitional evolutionist that after researching animals started to believe and teach creationism. I found the information on these video very interesting.

Part IV – God’s Answer is Always Perfect and on Time

God knows the best for us and His answer is always perfect and on time. For the past years of my life, I’ve been praying for someone who will be by my side, someone who will accept and love me for who I am, and someone who love God above everything. Yes, I had my previous relationship but it doesn’t work well and I feel something is still missing which is the most important, and that is the leading of our Lord. Now, I realized God’s reason and purpose why He didn’t answer my prayer for a long time because I still have some missions to do and that is taking care of my Mom. I am so happy that I have spent more time taking care of her until the time God called her to go home. God knows better than I and by the time I was in grieving, He is there to comfort me. After a month of my Mom’s death, I decided to come online and go to a Christian chatroom to enjoy myself through chatting with different people there. It is a Christian chatroom but not all people there are real Christians, some of them are just pretending. It is a place where I am not expecting to meet the guy God has destined for me, the guy I am praying for a long time. I really feel God’s leading during the time I log on to Christian chatroom 19 and He talked to my heart to sent a private message to one guy with an ID of oldshoe1978. Then, everything starts there and we built a wonderful friendship until the time he asked me to be his girlfriend. What a great blessing to have Daniel in my life. He is the most precious gift God gave me and I will keep and treasure him in my life forever. God’s answer is always perfect and on time, He gave Daniel in my life by the time I am ready for a lifetime commitment and His answer is more than enough to what I asked. Now, we are both happy serving the Lord through our prayer time everyday and through our blog. We will continue serving Him together for the rest of our lives. The glory , praise and honor is for Him, He is the reason of the joy and happiness we had in our heart and He completed our lives by the time He brought us together.

Part III – A Blessed Family

A family that prays together, stays together. I was blessed with the family God gave me. The secret of having a successful and strong family bonding is putting God at the center. I can say that my parents are good example of being a couple. My Dad was not a Christian but through my Mom he knew God and accepted Him in his life as his personal Lord and Savior. I really thank the Lord for giving me a complete family. The lives of my parents is not that easy, in one year they only spent a month or two of being together because my Dad worked as a seaman. For almost 30 years of their marriage the situation goes like that and being apart to each other temptation is always near. Now a days, we heard a lot of couple who got divorce because of their unsuccessful marriage for they thought it is the best solution to their problem. God is great and I thank Him for His leading on our family. My parents value their marriage because they know from the start it is a lifetime commitment and a sacred vow done in front of God, family, friends and other people. They promise to God that they will love each other for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, for better or for worst. God brought them together and no one can separate them from the love God has given them. I have seen and witnessed how much they love each other, my Dad who never leave my Mom during the time she was in bed and almost dying because of her disease. He stay beside my Mom until her last breathe. Our family was so blessed in many ways though we had been through with a lot of trials, we look for it as a blessing because with that He draw us more closer to each other.

B. Reith Working on a New Song

B. Reith is a Christian Hip-Hop artist which I enjoy listening to his music. Here is a video of he working on a new song idea. I am looking forward to hearing more great music for B. Reith.

Part II: Standing Firm in the Middle of the Storm

This is the second part of my testimony. During those time that my faith was really burning for the Lord, trials come on our family. By January 28, 2005 when my Mom got stroke and the right side of her body was paralyzed. My Mom who really inspired me with her faith in God. She was very active on our Church and had a lot of responsibilities because of the positions she was holding at Church. She accepted whole heartedly what happened to her and she never question God why sufferings come her way. Despite of her situation, still the desire of her heart is to serve God and eventhough she was paralyzed she went at Church using her wheelchair. After two years, another trials come on us, it was also by the month of January year 2007 when my Mom was diagnosed to have Cholelithiasis (Gallbladder stone). She needs to undergo surgery to remove her gallbladder. Tears fall down my eyes as I watched her lying on the stretcher entering the Operating room. I feel very pity for her because she suffered a lot of diseases, besides from stroke she was also Diabetic, Hyperthyroidism and by that time she will go for surgery. After two hours, the doctor went out and said that the operation was successful. He told me that my Mom’s gallbladder was very inflammed and edematous. So biopsy was done and after 5 days the result went out. I was at work by the time I received a text from her doctor telling me that it was a bad news. I feel nervous and I suddenly replied and asked her about the bad news. Then she text me again with the result of biopsy and it was Adenocarcinoma of the Gallbladder. I cried and feel sad about it. I called at home to tell my Dad and the rest of the family except my Mom. I talked with different doctors and asked them about the best treatment for my Mom, but I got nothing. The Oncologist told me that chemotherapy was not possible and our family doctor said that it would be best if we do monitoring on my Mom’s abdomen through CT scan to check if there’s any changes happened inside. By March 31 and August 9 of same year we brought her at the hospital for CT Scan and the result was really good. But things changed within the last week of August. My Mom keeps on vomiting and we are on and off of the hospital. Until such time her doctor request for gastroscopy and there we found out that all the food she intake for the past few days are still there on her stomach. So another CT scan was done on Sept. 9 and it revealed an adhesion that blocked the passage of food and also found out that the cancer cells brought by her gallbladder was already metastasized on her liver. To make the story short she underwent another operation and the doctor told us that my Mom was dying in just 3-6 months. When I heard that, I don’t know what to do. I feel so sad and everyone of us was depressed by that time. It’s really hard to think that you are losing someone you love, but still God talked to me and told me that everything happens for His purpose. My Mom, eventhough she’s dying, you’ll never see in her face that she was sad. She always bear a smile on her face and told everyone who visited her that she is ready whenever God call her to go home. After a month of her operation, God called her home to a wonderful place where there is no pain and sufferings anymore. She is now rested in peace with the Lord. Our family encountered so many trials, but during the time we are on grieving, God is there to comfort us; by the time we are in need in terms of financia,l God poured out His blessings for us and He used people to help us. God is really good, He is always on our side and He never leaves us. Our family stand firm in the middle of the storm because we know that we have a big God which is greater than our problems. We truly feel His presence in times of troubles.

“A Living Testimony Of My Life”

Life is beautiful, it’s true and I can proved it. I decided to write some testimony on how God works in my life from my childhood until at this time. My testimony was divided into four parts, I hope and pray this will serve as an encouragement to all of us.

Part I: My Fatih

My name is Jo Anne Reyes Hipolito, 28 years old and living from Philippines. I was raised from a Christian family and my parents brought me up in the ways of the Lord. I grew up attending Sunday School and Daily Vacation Bible School on our Church. Since my childhood days, I already knew God but accepted Him in my life as my personal Lord and Savior when I was 7 years old. My grandparents who are now with the Lord, serve as a big influence in my faith too. I learned how to pray through my grandfather who take care and slept with me since I was a child until I reached age 11. He never allowed me to sleep without praying. The one who inspire me in meditating and reading the Word of God is my grandmother. I saw her everytime she woke up in the morning, the first thing she did was to pray and read her Bible. What a great blessing to have a parents and grandparents who lighted my path as I grew up.
Years gone by and I felt God’s presence in my life. By the time I graduated from college, I fully dedicate my time in our church and enjoy myself serving the Lord in different ways. I became active in all youth activities until such time I was elected to be the president of our Local youth group and at the same time I was also elected to be the president of our District. The responsibility that I had is not that easy but I truly enjoyed it with the help of God.

Madonna is 50 Years Old

I grew up listening to Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince and others back in the 1980s. There always seemed to be something in the news about these artists as they were on the top of the charts.

Madonna turns 50 years old today. As we take a look at Madonna's life we can see someone who has been looking for some meaning in their life. Many times we as Christians condemn people like Madonna for the ways they look for meaning in their lives. We are to love the people of the world and hate the sin. I am not saying overlook the sinful life people live but to love them and tell them there is a better way. I fully believe if Jesus was walking the street of today's world he would be with the people in the entertainment business more then the people in the church. I challenge my fellow Christians not to condemn Madonna and others like her, but pray that she will come to know the love of Jesus. Lets be a light unto the world not a wall of hate blocking people from accepting the love of Jesus.

"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. ~~ Matthew 7:1-5 (English Standard Version)

The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." ~~ Mark 12:31 (English Standard Version)

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." ~~ Matthew 28:18-20 (English Standard Version)

“God Is Good All The Time”

Life is like a wheel that keeps on rolling. There are times we are on top and sometimes we are on the ground. Good and bad moments come our way, sometimes we asked why our life are full of trials and temptations. Christians have different outlooks when it comes to trials. There are some instances they asked if God is real, they also keep on asking why God allow sufferings in life, and some asked if God really loves them. For other Christians who fully give their trust to the Lord view trials as a blessing whether it is good or bad. God is good all the time, we must look positively on the things that happened in our lives because in everything God has a purpose, we may not see it instantly but sooner or later we will realized the wonderful purpose of God. All of us are sinners and unworthy but still He chose to die because of His love for us. God is faithful, He will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

God is good all the Time

God is good all the time
He put a song of praise in this heart of mine;
God is good all the time
Through the darkest night
His light we shine
God is good, God is good all the time.

If you’re walking through the shadows
And there are shadows all around
Do not fear, He will guide you
He will keep you safe and sound
He has promised to never leave you
Nor forsake you, and His Word is true.

We we’re sinners so unworthy
Still for us He chose to die
Filled us with His Holy Spirit
Now we can stand and testify
That His love is everlasting
And His mercies they will never end.

Though I may not understand
All the plans You have for me
My life is in Your hands
And through the eyes of faith
I can clearly see.

He’s so good, God is good,
He’s so good, God is good,
He’s so good all the time.

“A Dream Come True”

I was so blessed with a wonderful story shared by our Pastor last August 03, 2008 on our worship service. It is a story of a father and son who had a dream to be a good basketball player. I will name the father as James and the son as John. The story goes like this:

One day James and John talked with each other. James shared to his son about his dream to be a basketball player during his teenage years but he was not able to achieve it. Because of James frustration, John wants to fulfill his father’s dream through his image. He is so eager to be a player, so he start practicing his skills on the said game. Until such time, the opportunity came when his school call for a tryout to be a varsity player, so he set his mind to undergo the tryout but sad to say he was rejected by the coach who conducted the tryout. John tried it for two times but still ignored. He feel sad but his father encouraged him not to give up but instead take it as a challenge and do more practice because he believe one day his son will be known as a most valuable player. For the third time, he tried again to go with the tryout and he was luckily chosen to be a player for his school. The game start and their school are going to compete with other school. For the past six games, John haven’t had a chance to play the game. He just always seat at the bench together with his father and watch their teammates who keep doing their best to win the game. The competition was best of 7 and each school got 3 win and 3 lose so it means there was still the last game and that is the championship. At this time, John went to their last game without his father on his side, he was so sad looking with his teammates who are inside the court and playing for their team. When the last quarter came, most of the players from their team had graduated and need someone to replaced them. John talked with his coach and asked if he could go inside and substitute one of his teammates. His coach let him play and while playing on the court he keeps on thinking about his father. He did his very best until the remaining seconds left came and still the other team got a 1 point difference from their score. John, who was holding the ball by that time shoot it and got a 3 points score which make their team won. His coach and teammates were very happy and they were all amazed with what John did on the court. Everyone are looking for his father who always go with him when they have a game, but John said that his father was not around because he already died this morning. They all feel sorry about what they heard and told John that if his father was there and watch his game, they are very sure that he is so proud of him. John said, eventhough his father was there he still wasn’t able to see his game because he was blind, but he is rest assured that he already give pleasure for his father because he fulfilled his dreams

In our lives, sometimes we lose hope and easily fall down because of circumstances happened to us. Like John, who motivated by his father strive harder and do his best to fulfill his dreams and his father’s dreams. His father haven’t see him but still he do his best to give pleasure for his father. We desire to bring pleasure for our parents and what more Our Father in Heaven who are longing and dreaming for the pleasure we can give Him. God knows every single detail of our lives, we cannot hide anything from Him. Now is the time for us to dedicate and offer our lives to God. The main purpose why we are here on earth is to give pleasure to the one who created us.

David's Testimony

I asked my friend, David form Kampala, Uganda to share his testimony here on Mountain Highs and Valley Lows. David is working on coming to school in the United States, so he can go back to Uganda to be a blessing to his country and Africa. David has applied and is currently waiting to see if he got accepted to The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina. I will let you guys know here if he gets accepted. Please pray for David that Jesus will continue to provide many blessings for him.

My name is Kaganda David Businge, I live in Kampala, Uganda. I was born in 1985, in Kbarole District. I am an orphan, my father died when I was only 5 years old. I grow up with my mother and my grand mother who had no income to bring us up to adulthood. I wanted and loved to study and become a doctor, but since we had no money I went to a very weak village school but since I was off and on looking for school fees with my mother I could not work to get government to pay for me at the secondary level.

The journey of my life has been so hard and so complicated for me. My life was so screwed up. I'm talking about family and education. I was in severe pain. I had tears of frustration running down my face not knowing what to do and at this point I had given up on everything not sure if God ever existed, because I had prayed and prayed to get someone to help me and get into school but all my prayers where in vain an I said, "Its just not worth it anymore if all you do is hurt me emotionally and physically. That was what I was telling God in my prayers. Then in October 2002, I started listening to Gospel Music and God spoke to my heart saying "David, you should go to Church." I told myself a life not worth living happiness never lasts and my heart is forgiving something different story my life's the only thing I'm destroying.

In 2003, I met a younger boy who told me about Christ Jesus and at the end of our story he said to me, "Its OK, I know how you feel, but I promise you that if you can just hold on a little longer God will see you through and there will be a brighter day. If you ever feel alone and like you don't have any friends I want you to know hat I will be your friend!!!" Then the next Sunday, I gave my life to Jesus. That was in July 2003. Glory be to God. Things did not go as well at first as I thought but as I came to know Christ and read my bible life started to make sense..and i had a feeling that even if am not in school now some day soon I will be in school. In 2004, I mate a good Samaritan who decided to pay for my fees for one full year so that u can get to go back to school. I applied to Kololo Senior Secondary School and I was given a place there. Where I sat for my Final Uganda certificate of education U.C.E. Thank God when results come out in March 2005, I passed well and I had good credits. The devil came to steal kill and destroy, the person who was paying for my fees died. Some how I was back to my old life and did not join any institution or college. This time I had Jesus and I strongly believe that he is more than able to do what ever I need in his name.

I thank God that although I went through a lot and I am still going through a lot he was able to rescue me I have never had or taken any drugs or even drinking any kind of alcohol as a away to forget my problems.

I thank the Lord for giving me friends, who really care and are there to guide me and help whenever I need them. These friends are:

1. Bishop Ball Rick and his family from Illinois
2. Daniel from North Carolina
3. Wilbroad Kokundwe of Kampala, Uganda
4. Richard K of Kampala, Uganda
5. My pastor PS Derrly Woodson
6. My church VCC Ntinda

These people have done a lot in my life. I pray may the Lord God reward Them and bless them because they are always there whenever I need them. For God who loves me so much. Stay bless all people. Who will read this.

Carl Sandburg Home, Part 1

Carl Sandburg and his family moved to Flat Rock, North Carolina in 1945. After his death in 1967, his wife donated the house and property to the National Park Service. The Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site opened in 1968. I enjoy visiting the park ,walking the trails and seeing the goats. This is the first of three entries on Carl Sandburg home. This first one is on the thing you see at the site other then the house and barn. The second will be on the house and the third will be on the barn and goats of Mrs. Sandburg. Their home was called Connemara.

This is the sign at the entrance of Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in Flat Rock, North Carolina. Just a few minutes from Downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina.

This is the front lake which the house overlooks. There is a nice walking trail around the lake. My favorite trail to walk at Connemara is the trail to the top of Glassy Mountain. I did not have the time to go to the top the day I took these pictures. Maybe someday I will go again and take a picture of the view from the top of Glassy Mountain and post it here for you guys.

This is the house at Connemara. The Sandburgs lived in this house from 1945 until 1967. Part 2 of this series of entries will have more about the house.

This is a stage next to the house where the Vagabond Players from the Flat Rock Playhouse act out some of Carl Sandburg's Rootabaga Stories during the summer months. Daddy’s Empty Chair

This is a wonderful story I got from my email and I wanted to share it with you. May this serve as an encouragement and reminder to all of us that our Father is always on our side and never leave us.

Here is the story, enjoy reading it.

A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father. When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside his bed. The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit. "I guess you were expecting me, he said. 'No, who are you?" said the father. The minister told him his name and then remarked, "I saw the empty chair and I figured you knew I was going to show up." "Oh yeah, the chair," said the bedridden man. "Would you mind closing the door?" Puzzled, the minister shut the door. "I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter," said the man. "But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head." I abandoned any attempt at prayer," the old man continued, " until one day four years ago, my best friend said to me, "Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here is what I suggest. "Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair. It's not spooky because he promised, 'I will be with you always'. "Then just speak to him in the same way you're doing with me right now." "So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day. I'm careful though .. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm." The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old man to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and returned to the church. Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon. Did he die in peace?" he asked. Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him. But there was something strange about his death. Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed. What do you make of that?" The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said, "I wish we could all go like that."

Storm Damage

This afternoon, I went on my weekly shopping trip to Traveler's Rest, South Carolina. There was I a storm going on at the time that I was heading down to the store. I decided to take Old US Hwy 25 through the Greenville Watershed on my way down. There was a lot of tree branches down in the road that I had to drive around to get through. There was no rain at the store but I could feel the down draft from the storm that was over the watershed. I decided to take Old US Hwy 25 on my way back home in order to take some pictures of the storm damage. One section of the road, people were already clearing the branches out of the road. As I went on up the road I found a section of road that had not been cleared already so I stopped and took some pictures. After, I took the pictures of the damage I did clear the branches out of the road. Two men stopped and helped me clear the road after the third picture.

Hendersonville City Hall

This is the last of four post on Downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina. I am working on entries on Carl Sandburg's Home in Flat Rock, North Carolina which I hope to start posting soon.
Hendersonville City Hall was build in 1928 and is located on at 145 Fifth Avenue. Housed in the building is the Mayor's Office, Police Department, Water Department and other city offices. The Hendersonville Fire Department was housed in the basement were the Police Department is located now. The Fire Department moved to a new building in Boyd Park when city hall was renovated in 2005.
This is the back entrance where you enter to pay your water bill and go to the Police Department.
This statue is of the three Presidents of the United States of America that were born in North Carolina. These Presidents are Andrew Jackson, James Knox Polk and Andrew Johnson. The statue is the actual ceramic model that was used to make the molds used in the casting of the bronze statue that is on Capital Square in Raleigh, North Carolina.
This is with the sign that tell about the statue and how it came to be in City Hall.

God Is So Good To Me

I went to the bank today to deposit my paycheck. Before I left the bank, I decided to check my oil and coolant to see if I needed to add some. I opened my trunk to get what I needed. As I was reach for the coolant, I saw a envelope with my name on it. To my surprise there was a $20 bill in it. I have no idea how it got in there. I rarely opening the trunk to my car. I do not even know who's handwriting it is on the envelope. All I can say is God is good. I went back in the bank and put the money in savings account that I have the money for my trip to the Philippines in December to be with my beloved Jo Anne for Christmas and New Years. Jo Anne and I have been praying that God will provide the money I need for the flight by October 15th. We are sure God will provide the money I need because it is not the first time I just found money laying around. God is so Good.

Historic Henderson County Courthouse

This is the third of four post on Downtown Hendersonville, North Caolina. This one is on the Henderson County Historical Courthouse. This last will be on Hendersville's City Hall.

Build in 1902, the Henderson County Historical Courthouse was Henderson County's second courthouse and was build right behind the first which was teared down once the second was finished. This courthouse was use until 1993 when Henderson County open is new Courthouse on Grove Street. The old courthouse was recently renovated and now houses the Henderson County Heritage Museum and some county offices.

The Henderson County Historical Courthouse is on Main Street in Hendersonville, NC. Hendersonville is the county seat for Henderson County. On top the courthouse is the Statue of Justice, the Goddess Themis. Unlike most statue of Justice the one on top of the courthouse does not have I blindfold over her eye. I have been told this is one of only three with out a blindfold. I not sure how true that is.

Around the outside of the historical courthouse are memorials you those who served in the wars of the United States. These memorials are for all wars from the American Revolutionary War all the way through and including the current War of Terror. This is the memorial for the Vietnam War.
This is the memorial for the Korean War know as the Forgotten War.
This is the new courthouse on Grove Street. This where you go for court, file papers with Clerk of Court, pay local taxes, and other county business.
