On Sunday June 15, 2008, my church, First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, NC was host to the Ugandan Children's Choir from the Royal School and Orphanage in Kampala, Uganda. This was the second time that I have seen them and they were a blessing to hear. All the money raised on their tour of the United States is going to build new buildings for the school and orphanage.
The Royal School and Orphanage was started by Jalia Kayondo. In 2000, Suubi Ministries started when a member from Mt. Gilead Baptist Church visited the the school and orphanage on a mission trip. Land was purchased for new new school and orphanage for the children. In 2006, it was decided for the choir to come to the United States to raise money for the new school and orphanage.
For more for information and to make a donation check out Suubi Ministries' website. These children are well worth the donation. You can also sponsor a child at the Royal School and Orphanage through Suubi Ministries.
