Downtown Greenville, SC: June 24, 2008, Part 2

This is the second of three post about my outing to Downtown Greenville, SC. After my time at Heritage Green I walked to Main Street and down to Falls Park. This post is mostly about Main Street. The third post will be about Falls Park.

Right across the street from Heritage Green as you are heading towards Main Street is Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral which was built in 1942. There is a large Greek community in Greenville. They own a lot of restaurants in the area that have very good food.

Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral is under going a renovation and expansion project. This sign shows the plans of what the finish project will look like.

At the corner of Main Street and Elford Street is the Springwood Cemetery. The cemetery is the final resting place for over 10,000 people. Many of Greenville’s most prominent citizens are buried here.

Greenville's tree lined Main Street is my favorite downtown. With many good places to eat and shop. This picture is looking down Main Street towards Falls Park.

This is City Hall for the City of Greenville, South Carolina.
Across the Street from City Hall is the Chamber of Commerce Building. I like the design of the building.

This is the old Record Building it served as Greenville county's Courthouse until 1855.
This is the sign for the Record Building. That is down the street from the Record Building in an outdoor dinning area.

This picture and the following two pictures are of the Peace Center for the Performing Arts. You can enjoy Broadway shows, music concerts, theater, and more at the Peace Center.
