Men's Fraternity

This past fall and winter I took the first year of the Men's Fraternity classes at my church. I enjoy the course a lot and found it very informative. I would encourage any man to join Men's Fraternity if your church offers it or get one started at your church.

Men's Fraternity is a series of three one-year studies on authentic manhood using Jesus' life as a model. I did The Quest for Authentic Manhood which is the first year of the study. The second and third years are Authentic Manhood: Winning at Work and Home and The Great Adventure. These studies were designed by Robert Lewis the pastor-at-large of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas and author of Raising a Modern Day Knight.

To learn more about Men's Fraternity check out the following:
Introduction to Men's Fraternity Video One
Introduction to Men's Fraternity Video Two
Men's Fraternity Website

There is also a version for women called The New Eve which you can find more about here.

Again I would encourage you to do these studies, I learned a lot and the things you learn really work in real life.

Soar on Wings Like Eagles

What does the EAGLE represents?

"Eagles" symbolizes power and strength. They are also noted for its keen, eyesight and graceful flight. Sometimes, we wish to have those qualities does the eagle have, but remember it is not impossible for us to have the kind of power and strength the eagle has. God said: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:29-31).

In our life, we keep on running to think that we can do things by ourselves, but dear friends we cannot able to stand on our own, we cannot do things without God who strengthens us. Let us allow God to take over of our lives. HE is waiting on us, we must abide Him and have in our heart the desire and longing of serving Him. With that, we will be able to rise on eagle's wings.

Back on May 6, 2008, four other guys and I from my church went to the NC Baptist Men Region 9 Missions Rally. This was my first Missions Rally that I had ever been to and I found it very interesting. They gave different reports on missions that the NC Baptist Men have been and are doing at this time here in the United States and all around the world. I want to share some pictures that my friend Jim Engel took while we were there.

Pray for Steven Curtis Chapman's Family

I was deeply sadden when I heard the news about Maria Sue Chapman, the daughter of Christian music artist, Steven Curtis Chapman. She was hit in the driveway by a vehicle.

The Chapmans adopted Maria from China. She was the youngest daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman. The Chapmans have adopted two other children besides Maria. They also have setup a foundation and ministry to financially assist thousands of couples in adoption called Shaohannah's Hope.

I have enjoyed Steven Curtis Chapman's music since I was in high school. I feel his lost as if an old and dear friend has lost a family member. Will you join me in praying for the Chapman family. God will confront them in this time of great sadness. You like to meet Maria and leave few words of condolences for the Chapmans, please click here..

If I was to...

If I was to become blind, I count it joy for Jesus' face would be the first I see.
If I was to become deaf, I count it joy for Jesus' voice would be the first I hear.
If I was to lose an arm, I count it joy for Jesus would be the first I would hug.
If I was to lose an leg, I count it joy for Jesus would be the first I would walk to.
So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. ~ 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 ESV

I wrote this as I was thinking about how those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior will get new bodies in Heaven. If we lose something like our sight, hearing, or part of our bodies, we will get I prefect new body when we get to Heaven. In Heaven, there will be no sickness or death. Our new bodies will be spiritual and immortal but still be a physical body. We see an example of how our new bodies will be in the Bible when Jesus appears to his Disciples in the Upper Room.
As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, "Peace to you!" But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. And he said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate before them. ~ Luke 24:36-43ESV

As we see in Luke 24:36-43, Jesus seemly just appears to his Disciples. This show the spiritual form of our new bodies. The Disciples believe they are seeing the ghost of Jesus. To prove he is not a ghost, Jesus is ask they to touch and look him over. He even ask them for something to eat which he eats in front of them. Now after the Judgement Day and we get into Heaven, we will receive new bodies like the one we see Jesus has after he is resurrected.

Discovering the First Settlers of Greenville County, SC

Yesterday as I went out to do my shopping for the house I decided to try fulfill some Photo Requests on There were two Photo Requests for cemeteries that were on the way to the store. I did not find the graves that I was looking for to take a picture of at either of the cemeteries in order to fulfill the requests but I did find some interesting graves to me. This is one paid off I get besides helping someone with their family history. I found out some history of Greenville County that I did not know before. In the creation of the North Saluda Reservoir, which I live above in North Carolina, some graves were moved to the Tyger Baptist Church cemetery in Tygerville, SC. The original site of the graves are now covered by the water of the North Saluda Reservoir which is one of the places the City of Greenville, SC gets its water supply. These graves include Alexander McKinney and his family and 14 unknown graves. They were re interred a few mile away in cemetery of Tyger Baptist Church on June 24, 1957.

Some of the other graves in this cemetery include Revolutionary War Veterans and some of the first settlers of Greenville County. Many of the graves are only marked by field stones or by head stones that the writing has faded away long ago. The people buried there have seen and been apart of the great history of the United States from the begin to the present day.

Words Are Not Enough

The words "I miss you" can not display
The depths of how I care.

The words "I want you" do not betray
The extent of what I dare.

The words "I need you" can not convey
The extent of my prayer.

The words "I love you" do not portray
The heights of my err.

This is the poem my Love wrote to me in the last card she sent to me in a package of gifts. It feels so good to be loved so very much by someone. I love you, Jo Anne.
