Total Eclipse of the Moon On February 20, 2008

Total Eclipse February 20, 2008Last night, I enjoyed the show that God provided for us in the sky above with the total eclipse of the moon. The lunar eclipse could be seen by people in South America and most of North America as well as parts of Europe, Africa and Western Asia. A lunar eclipse is caused when the Earth passes between the sun and the moon and the Earth's shadow covers part or all of the moon.

During last night's event, the moon took on a redish brown color. This is normal, for the moon will sometimes appear to be bright orange, blood red or dark brown in color. I took the picture you see with this blog entry in hopes to catch the color, but my camera could not pick up on the color of the moon.

For more information on the lunar eclipse goto NASA: Total Lunar Eclipse of February 20, 2008. On this page, NASA provides information on last night's eclipse and on eclipses in general. You can also see when future eclipses are going to occur and where you be able to see them through the year 2012.
