My Goals for 2008

I do not make New Year Resolutions because no one follows through with them. I do take the time to make same goals that I want to achieve for the year. Okay your saying goals are the same as resolution. Resolutions are made to improve on something in ones life. I make goals to set a mark to work too or surpass. I always making goal for myself to reach.

I have five goals for the year 2008. My first goal is to get my weight down to 200 lbs. This means I will have to lose 20 lbs. My second is to have two more debts paid off this year. One of these debts will be to pay my car off. Once I get my car paid off I should be able to take care of the rest of my debt petty quickly. The third goal for 2008 is to take two trips this year without new debt. I already have a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina planned with my friends in the fall. My Forth goal is to come up with a plan for starting my own business. I always wanted to own my own store. I am finally getting to the point in my life that I have the money and resources to start my business. Goal number five is to pray everyday for my friends and family that they come to know Jesus or have a closer relationship with him.

I hope God blesses all my friends and family a great deal in 2008. May you all have a Happy New Year.

2007 in Review

This year has been a great year for me. I have looked up the goals that I set for myself for 2007 and achieved two of the three goals.

My first goal was to work harder on getting out of debt. I have got in the habit of making a Cash Flow Plan for every month. I am getting better at making one that works. I have also managed to tithe on every paycheck and put some money into savings for a emergencies. I got two debts paid off in 2007. I am close to getting two more debt knocked out of the way.

My second goal was to making to more friends to hang out with during my time off from work. I have become good friends with Brandee. I when to high school with Brandee and met her again as I was working for Manpower at a local plant. I also made several friend through Yahoo! Christian Chat Rooms. I have a group of friends that we get together in the chat room every night we can to talk and encourage one another. I am meeting at least once a week with my friend Keith. Keith and I are accountability partners. Keith is also a mentor for me to since he is older then me. I get so much out of these new friendships and I hope my friend get as much out of my friendship.

My third goal, I hate to say I did not come close to achieving. That goal was was to get my weight down to 195 lbs. While I gained weight instead of losing weight. I guess I have to try in 2008. I look and feel great.

God has bless me a great deal in 2007. I am ending the year with a job that I love to show up to work. I am starting to feel the freedom of having my money under control. I taking trips to Atlanta, Ga and Alabama with my friends Jonathan and Will. One of my friends that I met online is David from Africa. David is trying to come to the United States to go to school. I am try to help him out a little with a place to stay while he gets everything ready for school. I am excited to see what blessing the Lord has in store for me in 2008.

Rayna's Puppies Exploxer the World

When I woke up today I heard the puppies making a lot of noise from a different place. I got up and dress and ran out the door to see what was going on. Rayna and the puppies met halfway to the back side of the trailer. Seeing the puppies were alright I went back inside to get my camera and some food for Rayna and the puppies. Enjoy the pictures.

I tried to embed one of the video on my Blog and like Ford Products is did not work that good. Enjoy the website of BFT: To Protect and Serve Tough, I sure did.

Changing my Blogs Name to Mountain Highs and Valley Lows

I have decided to change the name of my Blog to Mountain Highs and Valley Lows. I wanted a more eye catching title for my Blog. Several years ago, I had an e-newsletter that I used for the same purpose as I do with this Blog by the same name. That purpose is to keep my friends up to date with what is going on in my life. I picked the name of Mountain Highs and Valley Lows for several reasons. One as you guess is that I live in the Mountains of Western North Carolina and I am surrounded by mountains and valleys. And as with the mountains and valleys if you really look at life all at once, life is just as wonderful as the mountains and valleys that I live in here in Western North Carolina. One of the other main reasons I picked the name is the symbolism of the mountain highs and valley lows of life. As we all know, we have up and down times in our lives. The high parts of our lives are often called Mountain Tops. While the lows points in our lives are sometimes called Life's Valleys.

With the name change, I will still be writing about whats going on in my life, sharing links to great websites that I come across and other interesting things I would like to share with the world. I hope to be posting entries on a more regular bases as while.

Gift of Friendship

I have two friends who's birthdays are tomorrow. I gave them their gifts and cards today. The one friend I got a pen for her gift. She collects pens so it is easy to get her a gift. The other friend is a little harder because I am her best friend and I have feeling for her. She has a boy friend and I am looking for other girls if anyone is interested. Ok, back to the subject at hand. I got a big box and found some Bible verses, quotes, and two poems about friendship. I printed the Bible verses, quotes, and poems off my computer and tape them inside the box with a note that read "I give you the gift of friendship the more of this gift you give back the bigger treasure my gift becomes." Then I wrap the box in some birthday gift wrap and put a bow on top with the card. I took it to where she works give it to her. Her eyes opened wide when she saw the box. When she opened the box I do not think she understood what the gift was at first. I explain it a little and help her get the papers out of the box. She put the Bible verses, quotes, and two poems with the card and put the box to be recycled. Then I left to get the other friend her gift who also works with her. When I give my other friend her gift she said that the other friend was talking about my gift. I love to do special things for my friends and do things all the time for my friends. I do it because that is what I believe friend should do for their friends. I love to see my friends smile and they both smile today.

He lived in Morris and Sussex County, New Jersey. He is also my Forth Great Grandfather by the information I have been able to find at this time. This is one of many genealogy finds I was found in the past years. I continue to look for more information on Noadiah Wade and his family.

The Internet Radio Equality Act

Like many people around the world, I enjoy listening to Internet radio. Internet radio gives me a chance to hear the music I want to listen to and also Internet radio is better at telling me what they are playing so it is easier for me to buy the music I like to listen to. I also pay to listen to Internet Radio on Live365 and some of this money goes to pay the royalties that the radio stations pay to the artist to play the music they play. I am more likely to buy the music I hear on the Internet because I do not have to look up who sings that song. And too many time on FM radio I am left wondering who was that singing. Plus did you know Internet Radio pays higher royalty rate that FM radio does though they make it easier for listeners like you and me to buy the music.

The Copyright Royalty Board has decide to raise the royalty rates that webcasters pay between 300 and 1200 percent over the next 5 years. This will cause many webcasters to go out of business and in the long run cost the artist money that Internet radio will generate thou royalty and album sales. I encourage you to join me and contact your Senators and Representative in the United States Congress and ask them to support the Internet Equality Act. To learn more please go to

Night at the Museum

My friend Chip and I went the Epic Four Season Theater and watched Night at the Museum. It was the funniest movie I have seen in a long time in a theater. The main character, Larry Daley, in the movie was played by Ben Stiller. Some other people who had parts in the movie were Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt, Dick Van Dyke as Cecil, Mickey Rooney as Gus, Bill Cobbs as Reginald, Brad Garrett as the voice of the Easter Island Head, and Charles Q. Murphy (Eddie Murphy's brother) as Taxi Driver. With those people in the movie you know the movie got the be funny. Go watch Night at the Museum you will not feel sorry for do it. I have forgotten how much fun going to theater with friends is to do. I wish the regular theater did not cost so much so I could go more often.

I just what I job that pays more, has better benefits and hopefully enjoy more. Right now I am waiting for Manpower to call me with a job placement.

Improving Ones Life

Over the past year, I have been working hard on different things to improve my life. In 2006, I lost 40 pounds and changed how I eat and exercise. I also have been working on my shyness by trying to make and going out with new friends. I have failed at somethings when in comes to friends but we can not learn if we do not fail. I am looking at were I failed and trying to see what I need to work on. Some of the things I need to work on in the social thing is knowing when to let things go, learn to listen to my friend better (what they said may be different then what they are saying) and I need to learn when to keep my mouth closed. I hope that what I failed at has only hurt the friendships for a short time and not destroy them. I know if I can repair the hurt my friendship will be stronger then it was before.

I also have started looking for a better paying job. I enjoy working where I work but it is not helping me to get where God wants me to be for the next chapter of my life. I am working on being more responsible with the money God entrust me with in my life. My financial goals are to get out of debt, having money saved up for emergencies, and to honor God with the money.

In the past week, I have realized that in making some of the changes to my life I have forgotten my first love. I have been working on reading the Bible everyday this week. I need to look at the reasons I am praying for the things I am praying for during my quiet time. Am I praying for them to honor God or to honor me? The biggest thing I need to do is let everything go and let God take care of it. He has not failed me yet in my life. It is when I try to take care of thing on my own when I fail. So if you could pray for me as I continue to work on improving my life.

Money from Heaven

Wednesday was a great day with money for me. I pick up loose change at work and other places and put it with the coin change I get from purchases. I took my change I collected to the Credit Union where I do my banking put in the coin machine. I checking the coin return putted out about twenty wheat pennies. Then I went to a car wash to clean my car. First I vacuumed the car out. Before I left the vacuum I walk around the vacuums and found three cents on the other side. I pull the car over to wash the dirt off on the outside. I got out of the car looked down at the ground and found a ten dollar bill. I used the ten to get something special for someone special. I picked up 45 cents today at work. God is so good I thank him for this money from heaven.

Genealogy Questions Answered

I have been looking for the town my great grandfather James Henry Peirce was born. My search started with his obituary that said he was born in Clinton Mine, Michigan. I search the map of Michigan found no Clinton Mine on it. Post a message on a genealogy message board asking about Clinton Mine no one knew about a town named Clinton Mine. I put my search on the back burner for a while to research other family tree information. I got Family Tree Maker, a genealogy computer program, and with the program I got a free year subscription to I used to found my great grandfather on a couple of United States Census. On the 1930 Census in New Jersey I found his Brother Hugh listed with my Great Grandfather and family. With this new information I started to look for Clinton Mine again. With his brother's, father's and mother's names I was able to find my great grandfather on the 1880 United States in Keweenaw County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. With a county to refer to I posted another message on a genealogy message board. On Tuesday Morning someone replied to my post. The person who wrote the post said there was a Ciff Mine in Keweenaw County and the town of Clifton, Michigan was the town for the mine. I did some more research and I found information to cofirm that Clifton, Michigan was the town great grandfather was born. Clifton is a ghost town today. I hope to one day to make a trip up to the old copper mine town. I researching the town I have come across more infromation on my family. I suggest reseaching old family stories and looking for the towns and other places your family lived. I have found tons of information by researching these things.

A Night of Fun with Friends

I have been feeling a little down lately with all it cloudy weather. My friend Ben at work saw that I was depressed yesterday when stopped to get breakfast at work before going to church. He asked if I would like to go shot pool with him and his wife and some of his friends last night. I told him I would go with he since I like to play pool but do not play very much. Since leaving college about nine years I only played pool once with Amber. I did leave out that I am a petty good pool player. We all had a great time at the Corner Pocket in downtown Hendersonville. I met a girl name Jay Jay that Ben is trying to set me up with. She is cute but I just going to be friends with her for now. If something happens it happens.

When I got home Will and I when for a walk. I love living in the middle of no where it makes for nice quite walks. After the walk Will and I hung out and watched TV at his house for awhile. For the prefect end of the day Amber called me and we talked for over a hour. I love talking with Amber and she is one of a few people I willing talk to on the phone for more that five minutes.

Troop Buildup in Iraq

President Bush give a speech tonight on his plans to send more troops to Iraq. I support this action and I do it with the knowledge someone I love has orders to go to Iraq because of it. I hate war and think me should avoid it if possible. We gave Saddam Hussein several changes to prove he did not have what me thought he had in Iraq. In doing so we may have given him the the time to move the Weapons of Mess Destruction out of Iraq and into neighboring countries. Saddam Hussein is dead now and it is time for the new government of Iraq to step up and provide a safe country for its people. We the United States need to stay in and clean up the mess we made and make sure the Iraqi Government starts to work on its own for its people. The last thing we need to do is pull out of Iraq like we did in Vietnam. Not only will we dishonor the men and women who have died in Iraq, we will have to fight the enemy here in the United States instead of Iraq. The evil forces we are fighting in Iraq will follow us home. We only have to look at the World Trade Center in New York City to see they can and will attack us in our homeland.

I ask you to continue to pray for President Bush, our men and Women in our Armed Services all over the world, and the great people of Iraq. May the decisions made over the next few months bring all involved home safe and to a peaceful country.

Trip to Atlanta

Table Rock, South CarolinaJonathan, Will, and I went down to Atlanta on Saturday. We were just going to go to Commerce, Georgia to shop at the Tanger Outlet Centers. After we shopped at the Outlets we decide to head on into Atlanta, Georgia since we still had some sunlight. While we were in Atlanta we went to the Lenox Square Mall. I was very impressed with the people of Atlanta. They were very friendly. I look forward to going back to Atlanta in the future and hope to see more of the city.

Farewell President Ford

I would like to take time to said my farewell President Gerald R. Ford. President Ford served as President of the United States for a short time. As we look back at his time as president we see he did the best he could do and save the country from a worse fate. I have not done a lot of research on President Ford but I believe one of the greatest things he had done was to pardon President Nixon. This was an important step towards healing our great country after the Watergate scandal. Farewell President Ford and thank you for your service to the greatest country on Earth.
